Privacy Policy

MUGEN ("we", "us") operates mugensoftware.com, a website presenting our software engineering services. This policy explains what data this site handles, why, and the rights you have over it. The short version: we collect almost nothing, we run analytics only if you opt in, and we never sell or share your personal information for advertising.

Who is responsible for your data

MUGEN is the data controller for this website. For anything privacy-related, contact us at jonathan@mugensoftware.com.

What we collect, and why

  • Email correspondence. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to discuss potential work. We keep it as long as the conversation, or a resulting engagement, stays relevant.
  • Analytics (only with your consent). If you accept the "Analytics" option in our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, approximate region, device type. IP addresses are anonymized. If you decline, or never answer the banner, no analytics data is sent at all.
  • Your consent choice. Your answer to the cookie banner is stored in your browser's localStorage (keys starting with stcm.consent) so we don't ask again. It never leaves your browser.
  • Server logs. Our hosting infrastructure keeps standard technical logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp) for security and troubleshooting, retained briefly and then discarded.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site sets no cookies of its own before you consent. With your consent, Google Analytics sets its usual _ga cookies. The consent banner itself is served by the Silktide Consent Manager and stores your choice locally, as described above. You can change your mind anytime via the cookie preferences icon on the page, or by clearing the site's data in your browser.

Who your data is shared with

  • Google LLC — only if you consent to analytics (Google Analytics 4, with Google Consent Mode v2). Google may process this data on servers outside your country, including in the United States.
  • Our hosting provider — processes server logs as part of serving the site.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Your rights — Brazil (LGPD)

If you are in Brazil, the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (Law 13.709/2018) gives you the right to confirm whether we process your data, to access it, to correct it, to have it anonymized or deleted, to data portability, to information about sharing, and to revoke consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email jonathan@mugensoftware.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the ANPD (Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados).

Your rights — United States

Depending on your state (including under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of — but you can exercise the other rights by emailing jonathan@mugensoftware.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

Your rights — European Economic Area & UK (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the GDPR, plus the right to withdraw consent at any time (which is exactly what declining the banner does). Our legal bases are consent (analytics) and legitimate interest (replying to your email, keeping the site secure). You may complain to your local supervisory authority.

Data security and retention

The site is served over HTTPS with a strict Content Security Policy, and third-party code is kept to the minimum described above. We keep personal data only as long as the purpose it was collected for requires, then delete it.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 (or the higher age your local law sets).

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the new version appears here with an updated date. Material changes to how analytics works will re-trigger the consent banner.
